How credits work for video generation and export — typical costs, rollover, and plan limits.

Credits are Vidquel's usage currency. They cover AI generation, narration, cinematic regen, and final export. Your balance appears in the dashboard header and in Billing settings.

What consumes credits

Most activity that runs the render pipeline or produces a downloadable file uses credits. Browsing, editing text without regen, and saving projects do not.

  • Initial video generation from Create.
  • Voice regeneration after script changes.
  • Cinematic AI media regen per scene.
  • Final MP4 export — primary charge for many workflows.
  • Bulk export — sum of each project in the batch.

Typical cost per video

A standard short-form video — roughly 30 to 60 seconds at 1080p — commonly uses about eight credits end to end, including generation and export. Actual cost varies with duration, resolution, template, and regen usage.

  • ~8 credits — typical 30–60s video at Pro 1080p.
  • Shorter clips and 720p exports often use fewer credits.
  • 4K, long duration, and heavy regen increase cost.
  • Failed renders and failed exports do not charge.

Tip

Check the credit estimate in the export dialog before confirming — it reflects your current project duration and resolution.

Resolution and duration

Higher resolution and longer timelines multiply render work. Business 4K exports cost more per minute than Pro 1080p. Free tier 720p exports use the smallest multiplier on paid-equivalent length.

Credit estimate display

Create, regen, and export surfaces show approximate cost before you commit. Treat estimates as planning guides — final deduction matches successful job completion.

Monthly plan allowances

Each paid plan includes a monthly credit pool refreshed on your billing cycle date. Free accounts receive a smaller starter allocation with watermark exports.

  • Free — limited monthly credits; 720p with watermark.
  • Pro — larger monthly pool; 1080p without watermark.
  • Business — highest pool plus 4K and team seats.

Rollover on paid plans

Unused credits on paid plans roll over for approximately thirty days after each billing cycle. Rollover credits spend after your current month's fresh allocation in most cases — check Billing for your exact stack order.

Rollover eligibility

Rollover is a paid-plan benefit. Free tier unused credits do not roll month to month — use them or lose them at cycle reset.

Rollover example

If your Pro plan grants 100 credits monthly and you use 70, about 30 may roll into the next month (subject to the ~30-day rollover window). Credits older than the rollover window expire.

Top-ups and upgrades

When production spikes, buy one-time credit packs from Billing or upgrade your plan for a higher recurring allowance. Upgrades prorate on most billing cycles.

  1. Open Settings → Billing.
  2. Compare current balance and renewal date.
  3. Choose Top up credits or Change plan.
  4. Confirm payment — balance updates immediately after success.

Bulk and campaign usage

Campaign quick build and bulk export sum credits across all child projects. The campaign header shows total estimated spend before you start.

Tip

Pause campaigns when credits run low mid-batch — resume after top-up without losing completed projects.

Viewing history

Credit history lists debits and credits with timestamps, project names, and job type. Use it to reconcile client billing or audit team usage on Business seats.

Team usage (Business)

Business workspaces share one credit pool across seats. Admins see per-seat activity in history; members cannot purchase without admin permission unless configured.

What does not use credits

  • Editing script text without voice regen.
  • Uploading replacement media via URL or file.
  • Stock search and preview in Freestyle.
  • Saving projects and organizing campaigns.
  • AI Studio chat without approved spend actions.

Refunds and adjustments

Failed jobs after system errors may receive automatic credit refunds. Contact support with job ID for disputed charges — include project name and export timestamp.

Planning production volume

Estimate monthly needs: videos per week × ~8 credits × weeks, plus buffer for regen and variants. Upgrade before launch weeks to avoid mid-campaign pauses.
