Creating videos

The Create flow turns a short brief into a finished video draft. You choose a template, describe what you want, set delivery options, and Vidquel generates scenes, narration, and visuals in one pass.

Open Create

From the dashboard, click Create in the sidebar or the New video button on the Projects page. You land on the first step of the wizard with your recent templates and platform presets visible.

1. Pick a template that matches your content format.
2. Write or paste your prompt — topic, tone, and key points.
3. Choose the target platform and aspect ratio.
4. Set duration, voice, and subtitle preferences.
5. Review the generated outline, then start the render.

Choose a template

Templates define scene structure, pacing, and which editor panels appear later. Pick one that fits your distribution channel and content style.

• Freestyle — flexible scenes, stock search, and custom transitions.
• Cinematic — AI-generated visuals with a film-like look and regen controls.
• Minecraft — dialogue-driven layouts with dual-host character panels.
• Social chat — message-thread style segments with sound packs; no text-to-speech.
• Product demo, listicle, and other presets tuned for common formats.

Write your prompt

Your prompt is the creative brief. Include the topic, audience, tone, and any must-have points. The clearer you are, the closer the first draft will be to what you want.

• State the hook in the first sentence — what grabs attention in the first three seconds.
• List 3–5 beats or facts you want covered.
• Mention tone: educational, humorous, urgent, conversational.
• Add constraints: avoid jargon, keep under a reading level, or include a CTA.

Prompt examples

Good: "Explain why cold brew tastes less bitter than hot coffee. Tone: friendly and curious. End with a subscribe CTA."

Weak: "Make a video about coffee." — Too vague; you will spend more time editing scenes afterward.

Platform and aspect ratio

Platform presets set safe zones, default duration, and export dimensions. Choose where the video will be published before you generate.

• TikTok / Reels / Shorts — 9:16 vertical, 15–60 seconds typical.
• YouTube — 16:9 horizontal for long-form; 9:16 for Shorts.
• Instagram Feed — 1:1 or 4:5; Stories and Reels use 9:16.
• LinkedIn — 16:9 or 1:1; professional tone works best.

Duration

Duration controls how many scenes are generated and how long narration runs. Shorter videos cost fewer credits; longer videos give more room for detail.

• 15–30 seconds — single idea, one hook, fast pacing.
• 45–60 seconds — standard short-form; 4–6 scenes typical.
• 90+ seconds — deeper explainers; available on paid plans.

Voice and narration

Select a voice that matches your brand and audience. Preview voices before generating — tone and pacing vary between options.

• Choose language and accent from the voice library.
• Pick gender and style: warm, authoritative, energetic, calm.
• Social chat templates skip TTS — they use sound packs instead.

When voice is disabled

Social chat and some Minecraft layouts rely on on-screen text and sound effects rather than narration. The voice step is hidden or optional for those templates.

Subtitles

Toggle subtitles on to burn captions into the export. Vidquel syncs subtitles to narration automatically. Style presets (font, color, position) can be changed in the editor before export.

• On — captions rendered into the final MP4; recommended for social.
• Off — no burned-in text; use platform-native captions when publishing.
• Preview per scene in the editor to check line breaks and timing.

Review and generate

Before starting the render, review the scene outline: titles, estimated duration, and template-specific notes. Click Generate when you are ready — credits are consumed when the render completes successfully.

1. Confirm template, platform, and duration.
2. Scan the outline for missing beats or awkward phrasing.
3. Click Generate and wait for the pipeline to finish.
4. Open the project in the scene editor to refine before export.

What happens next

After generation, your video opens as a project with editable scenes. Save changes in the editor, then export an MP4 or add the project to a campaign for bulk publishing.
